Vintage Electrical Cigarette-Cigar Table Lighters #2
On the right is a working, 1920's or 1930's Duralectric cigar automated lighter. The base of operations is made from pressed steel, with a hand rubbed grained mahogany finish. The microphone shape head is made from nickel. To operate printing the white button and concur for a few seconds.
From an advertisement I saw, (the midget) this would be the commercial size that you would find in the high class hotels, clubs and tobacco stores. Electrical table lighters was a danger to take sitting around the firm. I'k sure some might have even caused a fire when knocked over. The ones that you tilt to light, once knocked over and landing on the table or the floor, could start a fire within the house.
The button electric table lighters was much safer. Some electric lighters came with a prophylactic device that once knocked over, it wouldn't work. See below.
